I have lived in northern Florida practically my whole life. There were a few years as a toddler we lived with family in Indiana. But Florida is my home. And it's almost always HOT and HUMID and..well it's Florida. You can easily find yourself sweating in winter. Flip flops are worn year round, sweetened iced tea is the best kind of tea, "y'all" is part of every day conversation, love bugs attack yours cars around September, and mosquitoes are a year-round annoyance much to my dismay. More importantly this is where most of my family is, and my family is my home. I've moved a few times and have had to make friends all over the state. But I have found that you can always find warm-hearted people here in Florida, no matter where you live.
I have been married to a Navy man for over 11 years. *We* have lived two different places (both in Florida of course), although *he* has done an Individual Augmentation (IA) tour and an overseas Permanent Change of Station (PCS) by himself. The latter not by choice, but due to Florida's horrible housing market where we couldn't sell the house and transfer overseas together.
We have two boys...yes I said two boys. They are typical boys, and by that I mean they have LOTS of energy and seem to get in trouble more than I would like. (Why didn't I have girls? We'll save that for another blog.) My oldest is 7.5 years, and my youngest is not too far behind him as he'll be 6 soon. Both are in school and I volunteer a few times a week to help out in the classroom. And one day when all of the stars align, I would love to work in a school setting. I earned a BA in Psychology from the University of North Florida, and I have always dreamed of being a teacher or guidance counselor. So we shall see what the future holds.
In the meantime, I am a Stay-at-Home-Wife/Mom. More recently I have become a WORK-at-Home-Mom. I started selling Scentsy and Velata products last February to earn a little extra spending cash. Basically Scentsy is wickless candles and warmers along with other wonderful fragrance products, and Velata uses similar warmers to melt Belgian chocolate for fun fondue nights with family and friends.
So that's me, and you'll learn a lot more about me if I can remember to blog everyday. I am pretty easy going, I have some good ideas, I like a lot of things, and dream of doing many others. Comments are always welcome, blog ideas and suggestions are great! If you have your own blog or site, feel free to add it to the comments and I'll check it out. :)
Talk to you soon!!
Amy
Glad to see you in the blogging world Amy!
ReplyDeleteY'all is part of every day conversation... In NORTHERN Florida... lol... you wouldn't hear that much farther south... lol
ReplyDeleteKeep writing!
Sorry ladies! I read these replies last month, but neglected to respond to them.
ReplyDeleteTHANKS JES!! I've got to come a long way to catch up to your wonderful blog though. ;)
And Alejandra, my lovely Alex... that's because southern Florida substitutes "y'all" with "chicas" or any of the other numerous Spanish phrases! But "y'all" always has and always will be a southern thing. <3 Like you said, we wouldn't hear "y'all" MUCH in south Florida. ;)
